Verifiable AI outputs that pass an audit

An auditor does not ask whether your AI is good. They ask you to show your work. Here is the paper trail that answers them.

An audit of an AI system rarely turns on model quality. It turns on evidence. The auditor asks you to show, for a given output, what data went in, what the system did, and how you know the record you are showing is the one that actually ran. Most pipelines cannot answer the third part, because the logs can be edited and nobody signed anything.

A pipeline that passes has four properties.

Every input is attributed. For any output, you can list the exact data that produced it, each item named by source and read time, not summarized.

Every transformation is recorded. The steps between input and output are logged as a chain, so the path is reconstructable rather than remembered.

The record is tamper-evident. The log is signed, so an auditor can confirm it has not been edited since the run. An unsigned log is a story.

Corrections are append-only. When something is fixed, the fix is a new entry that supersedes the old one, and the old one stays visible. A system that can quietly overwrite its past cannot prove anything about it.

Signed, catalogued data with a receipt on every row.

Build it in, or reconstruct it later

Build these in from the start and an audit is a short meeting: you hand over the chain and the keys, and the auditor checks it. Bolt them on afterward and you are reconstructing history, which is both expensive and unconvincing.

The useful mental model is non-repudiation. The goal is not to prove the system is always right. It is to make every step attributable and permanent, so that when something is wrong, the record says exactly what happened and who recorded it.

DRM3 provides this as infrastructure: signed, chainable receipts over every operation, verifiable against public keys. Built for the day someone asks you to show your work.
